Stepping stones can be a great way to share an individual’s unique style while creating a nice walkway through a garden or other outdoor space. What was once created as a point of necessity for walking has turned into a way to make an interesting feature in a garden or backyard.
Traditionally, they were used to create a path to cross an area, such as a stream or other difficult area for a pedestrian to safely cross. Now they are used as a unique way to create a path through a garden. Some even use them alongside a house to guide someone to a backyard space or patio. This application is used in places other than in a garden. Still others may use them as a way to guide someone to a patio that is not raised above ground level. Garden stepping stones can definitely be an interesting treatment to an outdoor area.
Whether purchasing a single stepping stone as an interesting feature in a garden to purchasing several to make a guided walkway, there are many different types of them to choose from. A nice way to use stepping stones in a small space is to place one stone with a very ornate design or saying on it as a focal point in a garden. This allows the individual to still use stones without having to create a pathway with them. They can be made from a variety of different materials, including plaster, bronze, iron and concrete, to name a few.
If someone lives in a small space such as a condo or apartment, that has a limited outdoor area, it is possible to bring a little of the outdoors to an outdoor patio or balcony by purchasing a stepping stone that hangs on a wall. Even bring a little of the outdoors inside and hang it inside near an entranceway! If a person doesn’t have room for a garden in their backyard, take that wall-hanging stone and hang it from a fence or outside wall near some patio furniture or outdoor bistro set to help create a nice outdoor space.
Ultimately, there are a variety of different ways someone can use stepping stones to create a stylish and pleasant space – either outdoors or indoors!
