The lawn mower is one of the most important tools to you if you are one person who wants to have the perfect lawn. This is because you cannot stay without mowing your lawn and then expect to have a good-looking one which people will admire. And since this tool goes a great length to help you achieve this, it is only proper that you take your time to clean the mower in the proper fashion. In this article, I want to look at how you can clean your electric lawn mower.

The first thing that you need to do is to unplug the lawn mower from the electric socket. And although some people might find this too obvious, some might not. If you happen to make the mistake of cleaning the lawn mower without removing it from the socket, you can have yourself electrocuted without any warning.

Carry your mower to an open space where you will not have the interference from items around you. Do not start the process of cleaning the mower in a room where there are many other things. Once you are here, it is now the time to remove the casing so that you can get to the real thing.

Once you have removed the casing, locate where the blades are and then unscrew them. At this time, you will need to wipe the grass off the blades so as to make sure that it is totally clean. Once you have cleaned the blades, test them to see if they are sharp enough. If they are not sharp, you should sharpen them properly so that they can manage to do the work properly in the long run.

After sharpening the blades, you can then put them back to where they belong. At this juncture, it is also important that you locate the brushes that are used to conduct electricity within the motor. Sometimes, these brushes get very dirty and end up increasing in resistance. To ensure that the electricity is conducted in the right fashion, it is important that the surfaces be cleaned.

Once you are through with these two specific areas, it is also now the time to check if there is any other grass on the underside of the lawn mower. Clean out any dirt on and inside the casing to ensure that everything is okay. Once you have cleaned the casing, you can now put it back as it was initially.

Let your lawn mower to dry before plugging it back to the socket. You have now cleaned your electric mower, which will help it a great deal to be long-lasting.
